For those of us who like English detectives, I came across a review in the NYT’s Crime section that introduced me to someone new.Peter Robinson writes about his creation Chief Inspector Adam Banks, a “sensitive but not especially tormented detective.”  Banks is based in North Yorkshire.  Usually, Robinson sticks to police procedural dramas, but  in an unusual departure from this kind of plot, his newest “Watching the Dark” is quite different.  This one has a complicated story that leads the detective across Europe.  It involves the murder of a detective, the disappearance of an English girl on vacation, and human trafficking and exploitation of foreign workers.  Sounds like the plot of a Kurt Wallender book.  I am going to look for this one.
