I thought this book was very good! It brings one right back to those first weeks after giving birth. It was palpably real! The total transformation of your body with all its intricate pain and paths of destruction after birth. The hospital athletic sprays, mesh underwear, enormous pads and painful stitches. The thoughts and worries amid mind numbing breast feeding confusion. The total lack of sleep. The outsideness of being the one person in the world the baby needs. The tremendous responsibility that you are thrown into. The whims of the baby that is now your life. The required disappearance of self.
Also, I liked the dichotomy of the visiting dying neighbor. The mother finding herself sandwiched with two beings being at either end of the spectrum of what is a life. 5/5 starts.
