This is a new picture book illustrating a true event that occurred several years ago in the subway station (I believe it was in Canada or D.C.). The world famous violinist, Joshua Bell, dressed in casual clothes, played in the train station as an ‘ordinary’ street musician for 45 minutes. Afterwards, it was learned that only about 7 people stopped for more than 1 minute to hear him play on his extremely valuable Stradivarius violin. He collected about $34.00. The book describes a young boy being puled along by his mother as he longs to stop and listen to the beautiful music that grabs his attention and touches his heart. Don’t know what positive message this sends for the appreciation of music, but I enjoyed the story and illustrations.
