The ALSC recently published a list of recommended reads for tweens. After checking our catalog, I found that we had about half of the recommended titles. Only one, however, was currently in circulation. Many of the recommended books get good reviews, but don’t seem to circulate. Tweens seem to jump from series books to YA materials. At the last Youth Services meeting many of the librarians from the larger libraries discussed several audio books for this age group. Maybe we could entice tween readers by offering new titles in an audio format.
