After being thoroughly wiped out by Thanksgiving, I was looking for a mindless, light movie. “Take This Waltz,” according to the DVD blurb, seemed to fill the bill. Set in modern-day Canada, the main characters played by Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen are a young married couple who seem to be in love. By chance, Williams’ character meets a man in Montreal, and they find themselves not only seated together on the plane home but also find they live across the street from one another.
Of course, a relationship develops between them. Does she really not love her husband? Does this other man offer something that is lacking in her relationship with her husband, or is she the flawed partner in both? This is definitely a female oriented film. It is very well acted, but not a breezy romance story.
