This is a new documentary we have by Canadian director Sarah Polley. She interviews various members of her family and her mother’s friends to try and trace the history of her deceased mother’s life. (I think she was about five at the time of her mother’s death.) Naturally, the various witnesses have contradictory family stories. It was interesting to to see how memories were subjective and personal to everyone, strengthening the idea that a story or a life can never be truly known.
This film got mostly rave reviews. I found it hard to follow (who was who) with a lot of bad footage of home movies.
