Gilded Age is a modern take on the story of Lilly Bart who meets a tragic end in Edith Wharton’s The House of Mirth. It is set in modern day Cleveland among “old” families who all know each other intimately.
It is an interesting read if you are familiar with The House of Mirth, which I am re-reading now. The author makes no claims on having Wharton’s gift for writing but it does hold your attention and it is fun to see the characters in modern day situations.
