Since this is Banned books Week , I thought I’d check out the list for 2011. Only 2 on the list are adult titles. Here are the top ten:

6. Alice series by Phyllis Naylor (JUV & YA)
7. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (A)
8. What My Mother Doesn’t Know by Sonya Sones (YA)
9. Gossip Girl Series by Cecily Von Ziegesar (YA)
10. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (A)
From 2001 to 2009, the number of challenges has been in the 400 & 500’s. In the last two years, the numbers were less: 326 challenges in 2011 and 348 in 2010. Could it be that society is becoming more enlightened?
