If you’ve ever wondered about what goes on in a therapist’s office, this is the book for you. Lori Gottlieb is a therapist practicing in California and provides a bird’s eye view into some of her patients and their issues. There’s Julie, who thinks she has beat cancer only to find it’s returned and is staring down death; John who has no patience for anyone’s ineptitude and refers to them collectively as morons; Charlotte, who constantly asks for advice on decisions and can’t identify her feelings, and Lori herself, who has gone through a recent breakup with her almost fiance, and is having major difficulties dealing with it. I did find it a bit too long at 412 pages and had trouble finishing it, but you may have a different experience…
