If you enjoyed Maynard’s “Count the Ways” then you will be pleased with this sequel. The story seamlessly picks up without any need to jog your memory where the ending left off. Our main character, Eleanor, is now in her late 50’s and decides to nurse her ex-husband through an illness despite his cheating on her with the babysitter years ago. This only spring boards the rest of the book where we find out what her 3 children are up to now (or 4 children if you count the son born to the babysitter). Sink in to the world in New Hampshire and learn what happened to Toby after his near-drowning in the pond. What happened to Ursula who tried her best to make her family happy. How did her own family work out after she married? And the oldest daughter Al is now a son with a life of his own. As enjoyable as the first novel.
