Lily Tuck has a new novel (“The Rest is Memory”- December 2024). “Sisters” is an earlier work (2017) and a short book with an unnamed narrator. She is the second wife of her husband and spends a lot of time imagining what life was like for his first wife and the kind of marriage they had. She is now the stepmother to his two children and deliciously collects the bits of news she hears from her stepchildren about their mother trying to create a picture of who she is. Each page or two is a short vignette of an experience, memory or event. The book moves quickly to a surprising end. Recommended.
