This movie isn’t bad – just sad. The story line is celebrity loneliness which it seems can never be remedied. Michael Douglas and Matt Damon are quite believable as celebrity and lover. (I didn’t recognize Debbie Reynolds as Liberace’s mother.) Rob Lowe does a great turn as plastic surgeon and drug pusher.
The story is the cycle of looking for love, finding love and love collapsing. The costumes alone make this movie a must see, and the jewelry and mansion are over the top. Lady Gaga has nothing on Liberace.
