This is a wonderful children’s movie, maybe five years old. After her mother dies, her father sends Ociee to from Mississippi to North Carolina to live with an aunt and “become a lady.” Naturally Ociee is a tomboy (she has two brothers). The time is the late 1800s, the town is so pretty, the story so gentle. Ociee befriends a neighbor girl, they try to muscle in on the boy’s swimming hole. She promotes a romance between her aunt and an old boyfriend. She saves her friend from a burning house with her bravery. Even my husband liked it.
