I received this link to a Library Journal article from another children’s librarian and it is such a neat idea. Little Free Libraries are exactly that, little and free. The idea was devised by two men from Wisconsin in 2009. The libraries are basically small wooden structures made from wood and plexiglass that measure 24″ x 24″ x 30″, and are mounted on a pole. The library holds about 20 books; the idea is to take a book & leave a book. The mens’ goal is to try to top Andrew Carnegie’s record of opening 2,509 libraries. Kudos to them!
