This is the third title in his series centered around an apartment building (Corduroy Mansions)  in Pimlico/London and the various occupants. William, a late 40-something widowed, wine store owner discovers his oldest friend’s wife has been in love with him for years and is in a predicament about what to do. Freddie de La Haye, William’s dog, goes missing and has an adventure all his own. Caroline, a 20-something year-old is looking for a new flatmate and her mother manipulates the situation by proposing a potential boyfriend for her single daughter. Oedipus Snark, a government minister, is disliked even by his own mother and an ex-girlfriend decides to seek revenge. The colorful characters are followed and I wished fleshed out even more than they were. I enjoy Smith’s Dalhousie novels and these, but have not yet attempted the No 1 Ladies Detective series. This series is worth a look.
