Without giving away the ending, “Winter Street” is a book with happy endings- 99%. As with most of Hilderbrand’s novels, this one takes place on Nantucket in December. A couple own a B&B and the wife announces she has been having an affair with ‘Santa Claus’ for the past 12 years and is leaving the marriage. Meanwhile their son is off fighting in Afghanistan and the husband’s 3 grown children from his first marriage are all in flux. The goings-on with the family reach a peak Christmas Eve and Day with most coming to a happy ending. Fluff- yes. But a nice mindless read to entertain for a few hours.
