The subtitle of this book is “The Untold Story of the Attack in Benghazi”. It is an account of the events of 9/11/12 and the attack at the villa and villa barracks in the U.S. Special Mission Compound in Bengazi, Libya, and the subsequent attack on the “secret” CIA annex nearby. After reading it, I marvelled that there are people who are willing to live under the most dangerous conditions one can possibly imagine, with no guarantee of  returning home safely, all in the hope that  positive relationships can be forged between other countries. The other thought that struck me is the huge proliferation of weapons in the hands of terrorists; it really is frightening.

The story of the attack in Libya, is a heartbreaking story of unbelievable heroism and bravery. The five agents protecting Ambassador Chris Stevens and Information Officer Sean Smith tried their best to rescue them from the intense fire that was destroying the villa, but could only rescue the body of Smith after repeated attempts to enter the burning building. The agents barely escaped with their lives from the attackers, rescued by special forces from the annex, and sought refuge back in the  CIA annex. But the terrorists brought the firefight there next, bombarding the annex with mortar fire and ultimately killing two men from the Tripoli embassy special forces, Navy SEALS Glen Doherty & Tyrone Woods.

To date, no real answers have been given as to where the fault lies in this horrific attack.
