Charlotte Cross is the associate curator of Egyptian Art at the Met in 1978. She has spent the past few years compiling research on a female pharaoh, Hathorkare, who is regarded as insignificant by the art world. But Charlotte is seeking validation to authenticate the importance of Hathorkare’s reign. When a priceless artifact is stolen the night of a fashion Gala, she teams up with a young fashion assistant, Annie, to attempt to locate it. Davis is an excellent storyteller, weaving Charlotte’s past with the present, precipitating in a startling ending. Highly recommended for a fan of historical fiction, especially where Egyptology is admired.
