After having read the second title in the Letty Davenport series, I went back to read the first. This time Letty is assigned by her boss, Senator Colles, and the Department of Homeland Security to investigate a militia group thought to be stealing oil from several companies in Texas. She is assigned a partner, John Kaiser, who has done several tours in the Middle East and almost as good a shot as she is. Letty discovers not only is the militia group stealing the oil, but more importantly, she follows the money trail to find the group is funding a movement in a Texas border town to prevent immigrants from crossing over the border. I found this to be one of these novels you hate to put down, and thinking that John Sandford is a very skilled writer. Highly recommended for mystery fans.
