by B.J. Novak is similar to Herve Tullet’s picture book where the author steps out from behind the curtain and makes a connection to the reader. Interactive in the better sense of the word- instead of technology the reader is directed to act out instructions as per the author’s directions- the reader is eager to see what will next be expected of them. A young audience will delight in being asked by the author to say silly, nonsense words and “shake” the book to make the words fall. Novak gets a lot done without pictures.
