This title is the second volume in a series called “Chaos Walking” by Ness. The series was recommended to me by a teen who had enjoyed it, and I tried the first title : The Knife of Letting Go and really liked it. I just finished The Ask & the Answer last night, so now I’m up to book #3: Monsters of Men. The themes are war, power & abuse of power, love, and how to stay who you are in the face of pressure by powerful figures/authority/peers. The latter is definitely a powerful one for teens to consider. It features both a male and female protagonist, so this title would work for girls as well as boys.
