Each year during the summer, all the local libraries encourage all students, especially those in the elementary grades, to continue to read during their summer vacations. Students who sign up for our Summer Reading Program will receive a folder which will help them keep track of the books they have read. This year the folders will serve two purposes. Not only will it be a record of the library books they have read for our library’s Summer Reading Club, but it will also serve as their school reading log for those attending South Orangetown schools.
By serving two purposes, the log will encourage students to set their reading goals for the summer and then be able to bring it back to school in the fall to share with their teachers.
Check out the South Orangetown school web site for more information. William O.Schaefer school librarian Patty Eyer will give parents more information on her blog.
