Johanna Trollope has taken Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility” and brougt it into the twenty-first century. This is the timeless story of three daughters from an improvished family who are forced to leave their home due to the death of their father. Sounds very eighteenth century, but Trollope makes it work. The characters can probably be seen as paper cutouts of those poor girls who must now fend for themselves but Trollope makes the reader care for them. True everything works out for the good, but the journey getting there is a delightful read.
