More popular books for this age group (in my school library) include the “I Survived” series by Tarshis such as “I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic,” “I Survived the Bombing of Pearl Harbor,” “I Survived Hurricane Katrina,” and “I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1918.” They have a lot of action and are good for boys and girls. The new Big Nate book that just came out is also a hot item. “Marley and Me” continues to get checked out a lot (the kid’s version as well as the adult). Wendy Mass books are popular, too (“Heaven Looks a Lot Like a Mall,” “The Candymakers,” and “13 Gifts.”
