On Sunday I saw this play which is about an older man and wife and his brother who are living in an old mansion that is beginning to tumble down around their heads. The wife complains about all the work, the men seem oblivious. Their son visits and has a buyer, for the place to be refurbished and used as a school. They dither about for several acts but in the end they can’t bring themselves to leave.
But the funniest thing is the play begins with the brother sitting down to record the weather, temperature, direction of the wind etc. and ends with him doing the same thing. I couldn’t help but think of the Gesner diaries, and all those similar entries! Must have been the in thing before modern weather forecasting.
