Several people have recommended the mystery novels of Janet Evanovich to me, but I have never gotten around to reading any of them. So, when we got the DVD “One For the Money” I decided to take the easy route and watch it. Since I haven’t read the novel, I can’t say if the movie follows the plot of the book, but I am sure the “flavor” of the novel was captured.
Katherine Heigl was a good choice to play Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum. Ex-salesgirl turned bounty hunter she was able to carry off this transition. Debbie Reynolds as her grandmother and Debra Monk as her mother were really funny portraying sterotypical female relatives. The other actors in smaller role really helped to add to a pretty thin plot. Daniel Sunjata, remember him from “Rescue Me”, as an experienced bounty hunter, and Sherri Shepherd as a “lady of the evening” played their roles to the hilt.
There is nothing award-winning in this movie; it’s just good for some laughs. I wonder if Evanovich fans liked it??
