unveils its first full redesign since 2007.  Don’t hold your breath.  So far they have changed the back page that used to be essays (which I always liked) to “Bookends” which will feature two writers (from a group of 10 they have picked) answering questions.  This may turn out to be interesting.  The question this week was “Are novelists too wary of criticizing other novelists?”  (The answer is yes, no, maybe.)

The second change is “The Shortlist” which will group new books by subject, theme or genre.  This week it was “Difficult Women” with four titles reviewed, three fiction and one mystery.  This is authored by Alex Kuczynski.  I’m assuming this will have a different reviewer each week.  I hope this isn’t replacing the four short crime reviews which were very handy.
