According to a favorable review in the November BookPage, Katherine Paterson has penned a memoir appropriately titled, “Stories of My Life.” It is reviewed as a teen read, perhaps due to the story of her husband’s time in hospice care, which is said to contain some mature content. Paterson’s impetus for writing the book is her discovery that her kids had not heard many family stories, so she decided this would be a good way for the stories to be told. Her tales range from sad (her husband’s illness) to hysterical ( there is one about a pet snake that shows up in a Board of Education meeting!) The reviewer gave it high marks, so I intend to check it out, since all I really know about her besides her books, is the fact that she is the daughter of missionaries and therefore moved around a great deal in her young life. Currently there is only 1 copy in the system, but several are on order, in case anyone is interested…
