…is a juvenile fiction novel in verse for a 9-12 audience. It tells the story of 11 year-old Edith Paul and her 11 brothers and sisters. the family is Jewish living in Maryland during the 1930’s. The story is based on the author’s mother and her large family of aunts, uncles and cousins.  A quick read, “Looking for Me” describes Edith as a young girl lost in a large family unsure of what her role is besides taking care of her younger siblings and working in the family diner.  Although she envies her friends who have smaller families, she grieves when a younger brother dies and is proud when they appear at a ceremony in school as she receives an achievement award.  An enjoyable historical fiction snapshot. A glossary at the end defines Yiddish words.
