I wasn’t really interested in seeing “Lincoln.”  I thought what can this movie explore that hasn’t been done before.  I was wrong.  Steven Spielberg’s production was outstanding.  Based, in part, on Doris Kearns Goodwin”s “Team of Rivals,” the movie focuses on the fight to pass the 13th Amendment.  The wheeling and dealing on both the pro-amendment side and the anti-amendment side was so real that it seemed that it could have taken place today.  Just substitute the issue of slavery with that of gun control or gay marriage.

I thought Daniel Day-Lewis’ performance was definitely worthy of the Oscar.  His depiction of Lincoln was extremely insightful.  The setting, costumes, and all the performances make this a must-see movie.
