Lament was one of the first series by Steifvater and I’m on the face as to whether it was good or not. The story centers around Dee, a gifted harpist, who is totally unaware of her emerging ability to see faeries. As it becomes more apparent that she can see these creatures, her ability becomes a danger to safety. Seeing faeries is a dangerous business because they like to follow Cloverhands (those with the ability to see faeries) and the current faerie queen is jealous of Dee’s ability and the fact that the guy she sent to kill Dee falls in love with her (the man she wanted all for herself! How dare he?! How dare she?!).
The first almost 2/3 of the book dragged, but the last third of the book was pretty awesome! I’m going to read the second book to see if it’s any good. I’d give it two and a half stars out of five.
