This series has been popular at my school library for 5-6th graders. They are by Lauren Tarshis. Includes, so far:
I Survived the bombing at Pearl Harbor, I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916, I Survived Hurrican Katrina, I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic 1912. I believe there might be a September 11 book as well. They are not very long (well under 200 pages) and feature young people describing the events at the time. Historical fiction. Action adventure. Boy and girl appeal.
