Rachel Isador’s new book “I Hear a Pickle (and Smell, See, Touch, and Taste It, Too!) is a great exploration of the five senses. Each section of the book is geared to one of the senses.
In the section of “I Hear” Isador accompanies each auditory sound with a watercolor drawing of a child experiencing that sound. Each page is devoted to a sound in nature, in the house, during a rainstorm, etc.
The last sense is that of taste, and it is in this section that the author ties in the title of her book. The child pictured not only tastes the pickle, but smells it, and sees it and touches it and hears it.
This book will appeal to toddlers who are exploring their world and opening their senses to their experiences.
