Raymond has never known a place he could call home for long. His unstable and unloving parents move constantly without warning dragging him with them. Until one day they leave… without him. Left alone without a home, 12 year-old Raymond struggles to survive and find enough to eat. Camping out behind his middle school, Raymond learns to fish and search the dumpster after hours. His only comfort is his dog and 2 friends he makes in school. Hiding his situation is stressful and he never asks for help. We meet the community Raymond lives in including teachers and a bully who makes his life even more difficult. As a reader, I was cheering for Raymond to survive and overcome his circumstances. Sad, but hopeful, I enjoyed hearing Raymond’s story.
