I was interested to read in the NYT on Monday that e-book readers on tablets are offered so many distractions that the reading experience may well be fragmented.  I admit that as a book in print reader I am often tempted to peek ahead to find out where the author is heading.  E-book readers are tempted with far more diversions–Twitter, e-mail or streaming a movie when the book gets dull.  Many who have purchased e-books and tablets have come to the conclusion that it is “harder to sit down and focus on reading.”  Added to that observation, publishers are losing some of their enthusiasm for tablets for e-reading.  A survey showed that 31% of publishers today believe that tablets are the ideal reading format; last year 46% thought so.  Food for thought.
