First of all, I was delighted when notified it was ready for me – first time I had tried to reserve one. I liked it very much – she had sort of a strange childhood and it was amazing to follow the story of her success. I was interested in the things she didn’t know simply because she hadn’t been exposed to them, such as the Phi Beta Kappa honor. I think the fact that she came from an extended family that lived close by was a big factor in her upbringing, that she felt very loved and supported, although her immediate family life was rocky on and off. When I finished the book I felt she deserves her success, as she had many hurdles to overcome. She worked hard and had some lucky mentors whom she credits.

About reading on my I pad: the biggest problem was trying to read in bed. The page kept flipping from vertical to horizontal and back. (Maria will show me how the page can be locked.) I missed seeing the physical book lying around on my table or kitchen counter. I like to see the author’s photograph and who photographed it, or the cover artist, if that’s the case. I also like to read about the typeface used and its history, which is sometimes mentioned. Just a personal quirk. It was very easy to learn forward, backward etc. And I didn’t find it a strain on the eyes. I feel encouraged enough that I will use it in the future. Heck, it’s going to be the future.
