Recently, the parent of a child with dyslexia asked about ordering more titles in the Ricky Ricotta series. His son has enjoyed reading the first book, and the dad indicated that his reading skills are being helped.
We recently received Book 1 in another series that may appeal to other kids with dyslexia. The books in the Here’s Hank series written by Henry Winkler, yes, the Fonz, and Lin Oliver are designed using the font Dyslexie. A Dutch graphic designer, with dyslexia, developed the fond specifically for readers with this problem, although any reader will find the lettering easier and faster to read.
The letters are designed to help people with dyslexia to distinguish individual letters: heavier bottoms, larger than normal openings, and longer ascenders and descenders.
