I took this book for the road, but didn’t get to it until a few days ago.  Linda Fairstein (she was a DA) has a series going with a woman DA called Alex Cooper.  This book begins with a woman’s body surfacing from the lake in Central Park.  No ID, no clothes, no clues.  (Well, clues begin to turn up but they haven’t helped me.)  Anyhow, the strong point of the book is the lore disclosed about Central Park.  Many interesting details on how and why the park was planned and how it has changed or remained the same.  There used to be a community of 250+ African Americans with a church and schools that simply had to vanish as the park designers took over. Also some interesting facts about the famous Dakota – no two apartments were alike.

Back to the storyline.  Alex seems to have tried someone who was not guilty by reason of insanity.  This fellow is now out on a work release program (I find this incredible) and has the words KILL COOP tattooed on his hand. Is this the killer, or just someone who likes to expose himself and frighten teenagers in the park.  Also the love interest is a bit wishy washy for a smart DA.

I may have just blogged myself out of finishing it.
