If you’re looking for a distraction and easy reading, Alison Sherlock writes several series set in charming English Cotswold villages with characters you will grow to love. Both The Riverside Lane and Railway Lane series feature young men and women at a pivotal point in their lives. Some are switching careers and others are running away from their routine lives to shake things up. In various ways, they discover a purpose in life, renewed optimism for the future and long-lasting love. I particularly liked how each book connects the characters and you learn about their pasts and how everyone is related. Many are only planning to stay in the countryside for a short term and then return ‘home.’ Predictably, they find they now feel Cranbridge and the countryside is their new home and never want to leave. They grow attached to the beauty, peace and tranquility. As a reader, I grew attached to the residents of Cranbridge, too. These titles are only available digitally to read or listen to on Hoopla. I only wish these quaint villages were real so I could visit them on my next vacation!
