This is a mystery by Maegan Beaumont that I didn’t finish, mainly because I have four other books I had on order. It was quite good if macabre in that the central character was kidnapped and tortured for several months and left for dead. She was alive and found and becomes a San Francisco policewoman. Her grandmother sends an old town boy (whose background is a mystery for a stretch of years) to watch over her. Then the grandmother unwittingly entertains the killer, who kills her. She dies before telling him where she now lives. But he finds a scrap of an envelope in the fireplace with a cancellation stamp so he’ll soon be on his way to California. If anyone reads it, let me know the ending.
