Among the many movies that will be released during this holiday and early next year, here are the titles of eight books that have been made into new films and are in the movies not or will be shortly.
“American Sniper” is based on the true story of Chris Kyle and was directed by Clint Eastwood. There has been some Oscar buzz about this movie depending on which movie critic you read. Thomas Pynchon’s novel about the 1970s features Joaquin Phoenix.
Four movies based on books that we have in our collection will be released in 2015: “The Martian” by Andy Weir, “Dark Places” by Gillian Flynn, which will definitely increase this book’s circulation, “In the Heart of the Sea” by Nathaniel Philbrick, and “Price of Salt” based on the 1952 novel by Patricia Highsmith.
Rounding out the list of 8 are “Child 44” by Tom Rob Smith and “Silence” by Shusaku Endo, which was directed by Martin Scorsese.
