In a movie year when all the meaty roles seemed to be for men, Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine” was a plum for Cate Blanchette. I am not always a Woody Allen fan, but he definitely has written some great roles for women. Blanchette definitely deserved the Oscar for her portrayal of the very needy, self-centered Jasmine. It took me several months to get around to seeing this movie, and I am glad I finally did.
