If you like a lot of detailed characterization in a novel, this one’s for you. It begins with a murder on “Trivia Night” at a local school, and one of the parents attending is the culprit. But who? We then meet the main players: first the moms and their kids: Madeline & her daughter Chloe, Jane and her son Ziggy, Celeste and the twins (Max & Josh), Renata and Amabella. Then the dads: Ed, Perry, and Madeline’s ex, Nathan, who’s now married to Bonnie. It’s like a remake of Knot’s Landing, complete with a lot of nastiness involved. Almost everyone has a secret, and there is a common thread, which the reader discovers at the surprising conclusion. It’s well paced, and the characters could be one’s neighbors. I found it to be a compelling read.
