The 81st World Science Fiction convention will be held in China on October 21st, 2023, where the award winners will be announced. The finalists were announced on July 6th for the different categories, which include the Hugo Awards, the Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book, and the Astounding Award for Best New Writer. You can view all the information here. I was particularly interested in the award for the best Young Adult book, and the nominees are:
1. Akata Woman (The Nsibidi Scripts), by Nnedi Okorafor
2. Bloodmarked, by Tracy Deonn
3. Dreams Bigger Than Heartbreak, by Charlie Jane Anders
4. The Golden Enclaves, by Naomi Novik
5. In the Serpents Wake, by Rachel Hartman
6. Osmo Unknown and the Eightpenny Woods, by Catherynne M. Valente
It will be interesting to see who the winner will be. Stay tuned…
