Children and Young Adult author, Walter Dean Myers, died this week at age 76. His most notable title, “Monster,” and others won the Coretta Scott King Award numerous times. “Fallen Angels” and “Sunrise Over Fallujah” are 2 war stories. Most recently he posted an article in the New York Times about the lack of characters from different racial backgrounds in children’s books. And so the world has now lost one of the most notable African-American authors for children. [picture from The New York Tines]
