In an article in Sunday’s Book Review section of the NYT, editor Pamela Paul discusses an influx of children’s books written by wives,as well as, mothers, and children of Washington politicians. Although not a new idea, T. Roosevelt wrote a children’s book in 1895, it is interesting in this very heated political season.
Dr. Jill Biden’s book “Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops” will be published in June. Others who have contributed to this genre are Callista Gingrich “Sweet Land of Liberty”, Lynn Cheney, who has six titles in print, Hillary Clinton, “Dear Socks, Dear Buddy”, and Carole Geithner, “If Only.” The article states other examples as well.
Paul believes it is almost expected that Washington wives will write a children’s book. What better, cleaner, brighter way to a voter’s heart than sending a positive message to our nation’s children. Can Mrs. Romney and Mrs. Santorum be far behind.
