If Scribner tracked the sales of classic literature (which I guess it doesn’t) Gatsby would be at the top of the trade paperback list, having sold more than a million copies the first 5 months of 2013. And to think when Fitzgerald died in 1940, it had sold fewer that 24,000 copies. It was written in 1925. When it cools down, I’d like to read it again. I read it for “The Modern Novel” English class in 1958ish. I have lived long enough for a modern novel to become a classic!
