According to Laura Lippman, author of the recently released title After I’m Gone, her favorite books are set in the ordinary. When interviewed for this week’s NYT Book Review, she was asked what she felt was the best book that she’s recently read. Lippman chose three titles: The Cry by Helen Fitzgerald, Illyria by Elizabeth Hand, and A Reader’s Book of Days by Tom Nissley. The Cry was released last year and unfortunatley isn’t in our catalog, but I found other titles by Fitzgerald in Amazon, and she’s written quite a few YA books. One reader review in Amazon regarding The Cry compared it to Gone Girl, which sounds interesting. I may have to buy the book to read it! Illyria, which was published in 2010, is owned by a few libraries, and we do own Tom Hand’s book.
