In Anthony Shadid’s new book “House of Stone,” the former NYT correspondent writes about his efforts in rebuilding his family home in Lebanon.  I heard his widow and a former colleague interviewed on Leonard Lopate’s NPR show on Friday.  (Shadid died in February.)  They spoke about Shadid’s commitment to this area and his family’s long history in Lebanon, Syria and Israel.  The NYT reviewed the book in Sunday’s BR section.  Although the review pointed to flaws in the narration, those readers of the Times who read Shadid’s news stories might be interested in this tale of one family’s history in the Middle East
