Way back in 1992, the first R. L. Stine Goosebumps book was published. At its peak, 4 million Goosebumps books were sold per month. Finally Goosebumps: The Movie is opening tomorrow starring Jack Black and… zombies, monsters, and other creepy characters. Over the years, there has always been an audience for Goosebumps titles in my school library. Some old Goosebumps titles are now being reissued and published to coincide with the movie release.
The movie combines various monsters from Goosebumps titles when Zach moves to a new town and meets the girl next-door. When he thinks she’s in trouble and tries to rescue her, monsters get released from the Goosebumps books and they are loose on the town. Perhaps this will bring on a resurgence of Goosebumps readers.
